ALEX THINH`S PROFILE



Alex Thinh was born in Nghe an province (Vietnam) in 1978. He studied French in Hanoi Foreign Languages University( Now HANU), he stars to work in hotel industry from 2002- to 2010 at different 5 stars hotel in Vietnam such as Sofitel Metropole, Hilton Hanoi Opera and Sofitel Plaza Hanoi like bartender, bar supervisor and sommelier.

He worked around 4 years in Galaxy Macau hotel for VIP club and Italian fine dining restaurant as bartender and promoted to be sommelier from 2012 to 2014.
He got the WSET advanced level in Macau Tourism Institute
And Portuguese Wine Ambassador Certificate
And other Certificates

Current Business Position :
Head Sommelier and Training director of DALOC wines Company, Hanoi, Vietnam 

Upon his return to Hanoi in 2014 he is working as Sommelier,Wine consultant, Wine Training and in charge of event for Daloc wines Company.

He got the the title first runner up of Portuguese Wine Challenge Competition organized first time in 2013 by Macau sommelier association.

September, 2015. He participated the competition of Best sommelier of Vietnam in French wines and he is the winner.

December, 2105.He participated the competition of Best sommelier of Southeast Asia+ Taiwan in Bangkok and he got the 2nd runner –up.

December, 2015. He participated the competition of Best sommelier of Asia in French wines and he went to the Semi-Final.

He speaks different languages such as French, English, Cantonese, Vietnamese and basic Spanish.

Now he is the vice-president of Hanoi Vino Club and spend time to share wine knowledge and passion with wine lovers.

He travelled 3 times in France and then Italy, Australia for discovering different wine regions.
He has different wine talk on Television.

WSET Launches First Wine Qualifications Provider in Vietnam

The Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET), the largest global provider of qualifications in the field of wines and spirits, has welcomed CHM (CitySmart Hotel Management) as the first ever Approved Programme Provider (APP) in Vietnam to offer its wine courses.
Demand for wine and spirit education is rising, with WSET global candidate numbers up 18% in the 2015/16 academic year and course registrations continuing to show strong growth this year. Following increasing interest from the wider community of wine and spirits lovers, CHM has joined WSET’s global network to cater to Vietnamese wine and spirits professionals and enthusiasts, with courses in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh.
As a WSET APP, CHM now provides WSET’s Level 1 Award in Wines and Level 2 Award in Wines and Spirits. WSET Level 1 Award in Wines gives a hands-on introduction to the world of wine in an interactive and relaxed atmosphere for beginners. The course covers the basics of wine types and styles through sight, smell, and taste, as well as how to store and serve wine and pairing food with wine. WSET Level 2 Award in Wines and Spirits is a beginner to intermediate course exploring the major grape varieties and the styles of wines they produce as well as important wine regions in which they are grown. Participants also learn about key classifications and labelling terminology and are given a basic overview of the key categories of spirits and liqueurs.

The upcoming Level 1 Award in Wines course will be run in Hanoi on 15 February and Ho Chi Minh on 22 February. The upcoming Level 2 Award in Wines and Spirits will be run in Hanoi from 16-18 February and Ho Chi Minh from 23-25 February.

  • Ambra has an amber color. The coloring comes from the mosto cotto sweetener added to the wine
  • Rubino has a ruby color, made from red grape varieties such as PerriconeCalabreseNero d'Avola and Nerello Mascalese[12]
  • Fine has aging of at least one year[13]
  • Superiore is aged at least two years
  • Superiore Riserva is aged at least four years
  • Vergine and/or Soleras is aged at least five years
  • Vergine and/or Soleras Stravecchio and Vergine and/or Soleras Riserva is aged at least ten years[10]
